Executable Abstractions

OK, finally, the first real post on this new domain name and new blog.

So, what are 'executable abstractions'?

This is a term that is general enough for a modeler/hacker like myself to give me a lot of latitude in what I cover here, but that also captures the essence of two personal passions.

It is broad and general in that it is a fair way of describing any runnable code; I think I first heard someone use it in a sentence in a post by Don Box.

More specifically, though:

  • Executable Abstractions are consumable models - as an architectural mechanism for extreme modifiability of software systems

  • Executable Abtractions are models of reality that are useful, they are a way for us to make sense of our complex environment and navigate it...they represent ways of sharing our personal search for Truth

  • I realize this is still rather vague. The purpose of the work on this site and blog is to explore these two areas, as well as their confluence. Hopefully the meaning will emerge over time.
